House of Hidden Vistas
The House of Hidden Vistas is inspired by its unique site conditions. Located in front of a road junction and bounded by neighbours on its sides and its rear, the openings towards the exterior were carefully considered to minimise overlooking between the neighbours. The roof of the house gradually slopes from a 2-storey massing complementing the intimate scale of the front garden to a 3-storey massing at its rear in response to its 1-storey taller rear neighbour.
A monochromatic material palette of white walls in contrast with cast-insitu grey timber boardmark concrete was selected to visually breakdown the massing of the house.
Home to a close knit multi-generational family of 7, a series of Hidden Vistas is created within the home to enhance visual connectivity, daylighting and the natural breeze.
